Veronica Valentini is a curator based in Barcelona, where she co-direct BAR project, a curator-run organisation promoting trans-disciplinary dialogue, hospitality, collaboration and exchange via a residency program for international artists and curators and the practice-based training program BAR TOOL. She is also running as founder and Head of Program Emma, a collaborative and curatorial organisation for artistic and cultural practices that encourages dialogue and exploration in the arts through an international program of encounters, exhibitions, residencies and presentations. She is guest lecturer in curatorial practices in the visual art research platform at Fine Arts School of Brest (FR) and in 2014 she has been curator for the 2nd CAFAM Biennal “Invisible Hand. Curating as Gesture” at CAFA museum in Beijing.
Valentini’s area of interest lies in collaborative, collective, institutional and feminist practices, and forms of subjectivity and production of arts practitioners in a globalized world. Her practice explores curatorial and artistic strategies combining exhibition formats with performance, new technologies, film and independent publishing.
She attended the PEI-Independent Studies Programme 2012-2013 on critical theory, gender technologies and political imagination directed by Paul B. Preciado at MACBA (Barcelona) and the International Curatorial Training Program at Ecole du Magasin, Le Magasin-CNAC (Grenoble) 2009-2010. Prior to this she graduated with an MA in Visual Arts/Historical and Artistic Heritage (2003-2005) and a MA in Fine Arts (1999-2003) both in Italy.
She has been resident at Matadero (Madrid), SOMA (Mexico DF), BF15 (Lyon), 40m3 (Rennes), STROOM (The Hague), MACBA Study Centre (Barcelone), Villa Arson (Nice).
