Iván López Munuera (Madrid, 1980) is a contemporary art critic and freelance curator. With a degree in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid, he explores the way that contemporary art is written into the critical context of the social sciences and in media studies. He has carried out curatorial, documentation and management work for institutions such as the Reina Sofía National Art Museum (MNCARS), the Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange (ACAX), Ludwig Museum, Matadero Madrid, ARCO, Fundación MAPFRE, the Community of Madrid, Fundación Suñol and the Complutense Institute of Music Science (ICCM).
He publishes regularly in media such as El País, Arte y Parte, Goya, Lápiz, Pasajes de Arquitectura y Crítica, Pasajes Diseño and Urgente. He is currently a professor at IE University and has taught 20th-century Latin American Art at Georgetown University. He has given lectures at many academic forums and is director and host of the Fuzzy Now Broadcasting TV talk show. He is also a member of the Plataforma Curatorial for young curators and of Matadero Madrid’s work and research group, El Ranchito.
